The citizens of Podgorica, but also the owners of bus companies, are not satisfied with the situation in the city traffic. Passengers complain about buses without air-conditioning and irregular lines, and some of the bus operators on the chaotic conditions on the streets.

May 21, 2018 - With a record of high spring temperatures, urban transport passengers have been reminded a little earlier this year about how it is to be on a bus without air conditioning.

The owner of one of the city bus companies in Podgorica, Haris Alivodić, said that travelers are often impatient and too demanding. "The weather is unpredictable. It's hot; it's raining time, it's cold. While this is the case, we cannot think about turning on the air-conditioning in the buses. Some have them, some have not, and that's what it is. In these conditions we work in, we are great. The biggest problem is that the individuals want everything to be done in a minute," said Alivodić.

And when the heat starts, he says, the air-conditioning does not help much, because the bus stations are too close to each other. "The bus stops almost every 100 meters. The door opens each time, so the hot air comes in. No air-conditioning can help. Some would like that everything suites them, but this cannot be achieved anywhere," Alivodić emphasized.

The announced introduction of electronic charging is, Alivodić considered, the last thing on a long list to be edited in the city traffic. In first place, he points out, is regulating the "chaos" in the taxi transport. "Taxis are too cheap, and there are too many taxi drivers. Therefore they need to be competitive with the prices. People get the value for their money, but I wonder if there is a single city in the world, as Podgorica, where children from primary schools use taxi transportation. There are about 1,000 taxi drivers, plus the illegal ones, who continue to operate illegally, " Alivodić pointed out.

The ticket price for the city traffic remains the same, regardless of the new fuel price. "We cannot make the ticket cheaper whenever the fuel goes down in price, and we are not even willing to raise the ticket price when the fuel price goes up. The increase in fuel prices will definitely affect our business," said Alivodić.
