Total loans of both the population and the economy at the end of July amounted to EUR 2.944 billion. When they are divided into 625,266 inhabitants (according to the latest 2011 census), each citizen would have to pay EUR 4,710. Data from the Central Bank show that household loans from month to month increase by ten million. In January of the current year, they were 1.12 billion, in February 1.13, in March 1.14, April 1.159, May 1.175, June 1.188 and July EUR 1.197 billion.
The total loans in January of the current year were EUR 2.67 billion, and at the end of July 2,944 or almost EUR 300 million or 11.8 percent higher on an annual basis.
The data of the Central Bank show that the total loans of the population are mostly cash and uncommitted loans - through them, the population is in debt of 621 million. There was EUR 367 million in housing loans. These data show that citizens are the most indebted for spending, at a high interest rate.
"The average weighted effective interest rate on loans to individuals at the end of June amounted to 8.01 percent," the CBCG said, adding that the average interest rate on housing loans was significantly lower - at 6.03 percent.
The Central Bank expects that total household loans will grow in the upcoming period.
"The expectations of the Central Bank are aimed at increasing the demand for loans, primarily due to the downward trend in interest rates," said the institution.
