May 31, 2018 - Montenegro hosted the Ambassador of China to Montenegro, Cui Zhiwei, and on this occasion, Montenegrin Prime Minister, Dusko Markovic took the opportunity to speak to him. 

At the meeting they concluded that relations between the two countries are at the highest level and that the cooperation is friendly, comprehensive and diversified. Also, the two officials noted that the cooperation continues to develop and progress and that the construction of the priority section of the motorway has further strengthened these relations between Montenegro and China. Ambassador of China to Montenegro, Cui Zhiwei, said that this activity, at the same time, created a space and new opportunity for further dialogue on cooperation on new development projects. Montenegrin Prime Minister recalled that attaining such high-quality relations between two countries is primarily thanks to Ambassador Zhiwei.

“I am pleased to note that each of our encounters was for the benefit of the people of both countries. Each of our encounters was an incentive for creating new values in Montenegro. I thank you, Ambassador, on behalf of the Government and my own, for such an approach,” Prime Minister Marković said.

By this occasion, Minister Markovic also used the opportunity to review the strategic European and Euro-Atlantic orientation of Montenegro, and he expressed great appreciation for the respect and support of Chinese people towards Montenegro. Chinese Ambassador to Montenegro only confirmed these statements by saying that his country welcomed Montenegro’s good progress on economic and political agenda.

“We highly appreciate Montenegro's achievements since the restoration of independence, especially last year's achievements. Not only China but the whole world sees that you are thriving, that you have a stable political situation and are improving the living standard of citizens. As your friends, it makes us happy,” Ambassador Zhiwei said. 

Prime Minister Markovic and Ambassador Zhiwei noted that the Montenegrin-Chinese cooperation in the areas of Montenegrin development projects, science, education, culture, and sport contributed to better understanding of people and culture, increases interest of citizens of one country for another, and, among other things, many scholarships of Montenegrin students and sports professionals found their way in China, as well as the Chinese tourists in Montenegro.
